Cleaning Acrylic/Plexiglass

Everyday Cleaning

The first step to cleaning acrylic and plexiglass is by removing the dirt and debris that is stuck on the surface, you don’t want to scratch the surface by wiping it first. You can do this by rinsing the plastic sheet or plastic product with mild soap and lukewarm water. If that’s not available, then use a premium lint-free microfiber with soap and water. Gently blot the plastic surface and avoid applying too much pressure. You can then flip over the microfiber cloth and gently wipe it dry. We recommend using Novus 1 and Novus 2 to continue to keep acrylic surfaces clean from dirt and dust. Novus 1 has an anti-static formula that removes the negative charge that attracts dust and dirt. Sometimes after cleaning you might notice some light scratches, but you don’t have to worry. That’s one of the main reasons for using acrylic plastic, it can be easily polished out using the polishing technique or easily by using Novus 2 - It polishes out surface scratches while it cleans.

Cleaning Products to Avoid!

Not all glass cleaning products are safe to use. You should avoid using any of these products as it will damage your acrylic display and render it useless.

- Do Not Use paper towels because they’re abrasive and will leave the surface with lint and scuffs
- Do Not Use ammonia based products like Windex or glass cleaners. There are harmful chemicals in the glass cleaner that will damage the plastic or cause small fractures at the edges and drilled hole area. It will also leave a cloudy look on the acrylic sheet. Always use mild soap and water or Novus 1.
